Trekking poles can be rented from the Matsudai and Matsunoyama Tourist Information Centers. If you're not sure where to start your journey, there is a walking path that features about 30 different artworks from the Echigo-Tsumari Art Festival and beautiful rice terraces, as well as a park to take a break in. If you want a bit more of an advanced course, we recommend the 1.5-2 hour trek up to the old Matsudai Castle.
