SATOYAMA cycling (rent-a-bike)
Why don’t you enjoy comfortable sightseeing by making good use of the e-bike rental service? Tokamachi city has an extent that spreads for as much as 590.39㎢.
With an e-bike you can travel around larger areas efficiently, even uphill. You can thoroughly enjoy the beautiful rice terraces and clear streams, art spots, and other hidden charms that you can easily miss by car. You can rent a e-bike simply at the Tourist Information Center. We also accept online reservations. Enjoy the nature and the culture of Tokamachi to your heart’s content with the environment friendly as well as healthy e-bike.
*Bicycles can be rented at Tokamachi Station for use in the Tokamachi, Kawanishi, and Nakasato areas, and at Matsudai Station for use in the Matsudai and Matsunoyama areas. Please note that for safety reasons, it is not possible to go back and forth between the two areas by bicycle. For those who are unsure about the area to travel, we can direct you to the nearest rental office if you ask us. Please make a request using the inquiry form.

- To Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel: about 1 hour and 40 minutes *There is a slope on the way.
Bicycle rental station: Matsudai Station/Cycling area: Matsudai-Matsunoyama area
- To Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale “The Last Classroom” about 1 hour and 10 min.
- To Bijinbayashi (beech forest), about 35 min.
- To the terraced rice fields of Hoshitoge, about 60 min.
- To Matsunoyama Onsen (Hot Spring), about 45 min.
1 “Sato-chari”, an electrically assisted citycycle
The electrically assisted city cycles are equipped with a large basket for easy loading of luggage, making them convenient for shopping and other purposes. Since it is equipped with electric power, it’s much easier going uphill. Designed to maintain stability, the bike can be used by beginners with no worries.
- Rental fee: 1,000 yen for 4 hours / 1,500 yen for 1 day / 2,500 yen for 2 days and 1 night

2 “Satoyama E-bike,” a sports-type electrically assisted bicycle
The “Satoyama E-bike,” a proper sports-type electrically assisted bicycle, it is very light and ideal for long-distance sightseeing and transportation. The powerful assist function provides a smooth ride even on hilly and undulating roads. The bike can travel up to 70 kilometers, so you can enjoy a full day of art touring over a wide area.
- Rental fee: 1,500 yen for 4 hours / 2,800 yen for 1 day (tax included)

| Notes | Notes In the event of bad weather conditions (heavy rain, typhoons, etc.), the rental may be suspended. Skirts, heels, sandals etc may be dangerous while cycling, therefore please be sure to wear comfortable clothes. Helmets are available for rent free of charge.
