Sakenoyado Tamakiya

This cozy hotel is located in the heart of the Matsunoyama Onsen Village.
Their head chef, Akira Kuriyama, trained at a two-star Michelin restaurant in France and was inspired to bring what he learned back to Japan. The owner of the hotel is also a certified sommelier and can recommend the perfect wine and sake pairings for your French meal, made with a Niigata twist. The ingredients are always fresh and in season, and local koshihikari rice ties the menu together in a perfect food genre known as “satoyama cuisine.”

Kamosu Mori Bar
This French restaurant is part of a Japanese-style inn (ryokan) in the lush forests near Matsunoyama. There are over 100 types of wine and Japanese sake that pair perfectly with their stylish plates of food. Each table allows for a beautiful view of the satoyama landscape so you can really sip your wine while enjoying the chic, mellow atmosphere.
Kojimaya Souhonten
Kojimaya specializes in “hegisoba,” the specialty buckwheat noodle of Tokamachi. All of their soba made from locally-grown and ground buckwheat flour and then bound with funori seaweed for an exceptional taste. Their dipping broth is made from scratch with katsuobushi and konbu without any MSG or other additives.
Yoshiya Soba
This well-known soba restaurant is said to have been a favorite of the famed artist Taro Okamoto. All of their buckwheat flour is grown from their own fields and bound with funori seaweed to create a deliciously fresh hegisoba. They are located right on R117 for easy access!
Atema Kogen Resort Belnatio

This spacious hotel and resort is located on land the size of 109 baseball stadiums and includes onsen, restaurants, golf courses, and so much more. There are cottages for tourists with pets and the resort is a perfect site for your wedding venue. The beautiful scenery surrounding the resorts changes with the seasons and there are different seasonal activities throughout the year.
Hinanoyado Chitose

This luxurious ryokan, or Japanese-style hotel, is right along the main street of Matsunoyama Onsen Village. The entire building is carpeted in soft tatami mat meant to soothe your bare feet, and the meals offered are made with locally-grown ingredients that showcase the food culture of Tokamachi and satoyama life. If you’re looking for a getaway to detox and destress, look no further than Hinanoyado Chitose.
Ryounkaku
Located just a few minutes down the way from Matsunoyama Onsen Village. This gorgeous building dates back to the 1920s and offers roomy accommodations decked out in a vintage Japanese style with modern amenities, of course. Their onsen uses the medicinal water from the hot springs of Matsunoyama and the meals are made with locally-harvested produce.
