The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale(ETAT) 2024, which began in Tokamachi City and Tsunan Town in Niigata Prefecture, will be held until November 10th, 2024.
Over 300 artworks are sccattered across an area larger than 23 wards of Tokyo, but scince you’ve come all way here, we want you to enjoy it to the fullest ! We’ve complied some points to keep in mind and some useful information, so be sure to check it out before you come.

Please note that ‘ Echigo – Tsumari Art Triennale 2024’ will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the entire period of the Triennale.

About sightseeing of Kiyotsukyo Gorge
＜You might need to reserve in advance＞
Advance reservations are required for the Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel during the following periods to reduce congesion. Reservation site ( Asoview ) or from a multi – copy machine at a Seven – Eleven convenience store.
Advance reservation periods: All Saturdays, Sundays and holiday from July 13, 2024 to November 10, 2024
Weekdays from 8/13～8/16, and 10/21～11/8

※There are other events and restaurants that need to reserve, so please be careful during the period of ETAT, 2024.
＜About Access methods＞
Kiyotsukyo gorge Tunnel is located at 30 minutes from Echigo Yuzawa station and also 40 minutes from Tokamachi station by car.
If you are travelling by public transpot, there are the following options:
- ［Weekdays］The methods by local bus
From Echigo Yuzawa station, take the Express bus bound for Morimiyanohara and get off at Kiyotsukyo Iriguchi bus stop. From bus stop to the Kiyotsukyo Gorge Tunnel, you will need to walk uphill for about 30 minutes on foot. - ［Saturdays, Sundays and holidays until 11/10］How to get there by YukiMo！
YukiMo bus is available for use only Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during the Triennale.
There are buses from Echigo Yuzawa station to Kiyotsukyo and special buses from Tokamachi station to Kiyotsukyo. Some buses require online reservations, so please check the website carefully in advance.

What should you bring to an art tour ?
＼Here are the three sacred treasurs ／
・Artwork Appreciation Passport (4,500 yen for adults、2,000 yen for elementary, middle and high school students, Free for children under elementary school）
・Gidebook (1,200 yen)
・gide map（300 yen）
The ‘ Artwork Appriciation Passport is by far the best value for art tour！There are facilities where individual tickets cost more than 1,000 yen, so you can make up for the cost by visiting just a few places. It can be used until November 10th, so it is recommended.
Also, if you are going to see outdoor artworks, do not forget to take measures aginst heat strok ! Make sure to stay hydrated and plan your trip accordingly. It is best to bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and rain gear if necessary. It might be a good idea to bring cash and a smartphone battery as well.
All you need to do is have fun and you are good to go！

The vast area has mountains and valleys ! There may be many places that are different from your usual area, such as old buildings, unpaved roads, waterways, and intact nature. There is a wide variety of artwork that you can experience and touch. If there are warning signs, please read them carefully and take care not to injure yourself in other areas. If you find a dangerous place or a damaged artwork , please contact a nearby staff member or the Art Ceter Office.
